The production of the Ford Capri models began in 1969 at Fords Dagenham and Halewood plants in the UK. The Capri was built as an affordable fast back coupe for Fords European market running alongside the incredibly popular Mustang model in the USA. The Capri Mk 11 model followed in 1974 and the Ford Capri Mk III model car was released in 1978. Due to the Capri’s popularity in the UK the Mk III ran till 1986 boosted by LTV’s popular cult series “The Professionals “. During its production the Capri Mk III was one of the most stolen car models in the 1980’s.
The ford Capri 2.8 Injection model was released in 1981 and had a top speed of 130 mph, velour trim and later on in production a Capri Injection special boasted a limited slip differential.
