The History of Lotus Cars

Lotus Engineering Ltd was formed in 1952 by Colin Chapman in Hornsey, North London. In 1954 Team Lotus was formed to compete in Formula One racing with great success between 1958 and 1994 winning the F1 championship seven times. In 1966 Lotus moved to Hethel in Norfolk on an old WW2 airbase where the runway consists as part of the test track. Lotus is famous for their suspension and chassis development and has always stuck to building high performance0020sports cars. The Lotus Elan, Europa, Esprix and Exige are well known sports car models world wide with the Esprit model making appearances in James Bond films in the 1980’s. Lotus cars are now owned by Malaysian car giant Proton and have been back into Formula One Racing since 2010 with a team now called Team Lotus Racing. Here are our Lotus Diecast Model Cars.
